St. Cecilia Church makes library connection for cable TV series

The TV productions of St. Cecilia’s Church are now available for Irondequoit viewers to watch anytime. The church’s Communications Committee is donating copies of its programming to the Irondequoit Library System.

In the past several months, the group has produced and broadcast several episodes of its half-hour "St. Cecilia Connection TV" program on Irondequoit’s ICAT Channel 15 Sunday and Wednesday evenings, and Webster’s WCA-TV Channel 12, Sundays at 9 AM. The gift will allow town residents without cable, or who might have missed the broadcast, or wish to see them again, to borrow DVD versions from the McGraw or Evans libraries. Also among the 12 DVD’s being donated are two hour-long presentations produced at St. Cecilia’s Newcomb Center: “When Your Adult Child Doesn’t Attend Mass,” and “A Study in God’s Forgiveness.”

"St. Cecilia Connection TV," hosted by the church’s pastor, Fr. Kevin McKenna, explores how faith connects in the lives of a variety of people in the community. Program guests have included parishioners Mike Morgan and Bob Moore, Marcia Bovenzi, an active volunteer at Christ the King Church and member of the West Irondequoit School Board, Donna Walker of Irondequoit Senior Ministries, and Peter Kelderhouse, who heads St. Cecilia’s Stewardship Committee, and is president of the Irondequoit Chamber of Commerce.

As additional episodes of the program are produced, each will be available at the Irondequoit Library System.

For more information on the St. Cecilia parish, its weekly services, or if you’d like to volunteer, contact the parish office at 467-4286 , or visit the church website for Volunteer Opportunities.

  • Jesus Decoded

    Watch Jesus Decoded on DVD.

Jesus Decoded LogoThe serious concern about many current media portrayals of Jesus Christ and the origins of Christianity has prompted the US Bishops' Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) to launch a new internet website   www.Jesusdecoded.com  to present authentic Catholic teaching about Jesus and the origins of Christianity and to correct misinformation that appears in current popular media.
The USCCB Catholic Communication Campaign has also produced Jesus Decoded, an hour-long documentary that presents clear and accurate information about the person of Jesus, His disciples, and the formation of the books included in the official canon of the Bible.   This film will be released in May and televised nationally on NBC. THIS FILM WILL NOT BE TELEVISED LOCALLY, but released on DVD.
I urge you to use these opportunities for catechesis.   We have an exceptional opportunity to help our people learn more about their faith.

NOTE: A copy of the Jesus Decoded DVD is available at the parish office on a short term loan basis. Please inquire about our loan policy through Dorothy Vinci at 467-4286, x100.
