St. Cecilia's Parish Council

The Parish Council serves as an advisory group to the pastor. Members include the parish staff, a representative from each of the standing committees, five members selected from nominees from the Parish, and one youth representative (age 13 -18).

Any parishioner interested in serving on the Parish Council may nominate themselves (or be nominated by someone else) each Spring. Watch the weekly bulletin for information and nomination forms.

The Council meets the third Tuesday of each month from September through June at 7 p.m. in meeting room B. Any registered parishioner may address the Parish Council on a parish matter. Interested parishioners need to call the Chairperson by Monday of the week of the Council meeting to be informed of the timing and guidelines.

The following are standing committees of the Council.

  • Development Committee. This committee provides key input to our long-range planning process and prepares a Development Plan for obtaining the financial resources necessary to accomplish our Five-Year Plan. The committee assures that the Development Plan is successfully implemented both by conducting fundraising activities and by coordinating and monitoring the fundraising activities of other Parish committees and organizations.

  • Faith Formation Committee. This group is a working, advisory committee that meets throughout the year to assist the staff in creating, implementing and evaluating the religious educational opportunities for all St. Cecilia's parishioners from cradle to grave. The group is composed of parishioners representative of all aspects of our educational focus such as classroom catechesis, sacramental preparation, adult education, R.C.I.A., Catholic Schools, Bible study, etc.

  • Finance Council. This council advises the pastor on matters concerning the material resources of the parish. This group of individuals, knowledgeable in matters of finance, is guided by Canon Law and Diocesan policies.

  • Liturgy Committee. The purpose of this group is to bring the Parish community together through meaningful worship. They help plan the Liturgical celebrations for the various seasons and feasts of the Church year including music, decorations, and the scheduling and training of Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. They also sponsor Marriage Preparation.

  • Parish Life Committee. This committee is responsible to develop a spirit of community and belonging in the parish. They plan opportunities for parishioners to gather to celebrate, socialize and communicate such as Family Life, Parish Picnic, Parish Dinner and Pancake Breakfast, and Spring Clean-up. They also coordinate communications between and among parish groups, calendar planning and coffee hour socials.

  • Parish Outreach Committee. This committee focuses on parishioners with special needs such as the grieving, sick, homebound and elderly. They organize volunteers to reach out to those in need through visits, cards and phone calls, as well as to deliver plants at Christmas and Easter. They host the "Circle Of Friends" bereavement, a special breakfast for Senior Citizens during the month of May and an annual Memorial Mass for the deceased in November.

  • Social Justice Ministry. There are many social injustices in this 21st Century that need our attention for justice. Our ministry aims to connect our faith to the needs of the needy, the outcast, those having the sorrowful face of the Lord. We are looking to become active in this ministry within the bounds of our Faith and Church. If you are interested, please contact Deacon Bob at 671-5275.

They conduct several fundraising projects for the hungry, the homeless and the disadvantaged. They are guided by the social teachings of the Church, and work to raise awareness of justice in the world.

  • Stewardship Committee. This Committee's responsibility is to support our St. Cecilia's Mission Statement, which is to encourage all to actively participate in the life of the church by sharing God's gifts. This committee organizes, identifies and provides formal gratitude to those who give of their time, talent and treasure.
