Mass Times from Around the Country

REVIEW:
Mass Times is a web site designed to help Catholics find Mass/worship times and locations. The site is a wonderful help to those away from home. There a numerous ways to search and maps to easily locate every church in a given area. This is a free ministry to traveling Catholics, funded by Pauline Books and Media, in partnership with the Catholic Communication Campaign of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and Mass Times Trust.

The large number of questionable links shows a lack of diligence on the part of the webmaster.

The WORD among us
REVIEW: The Word Among Us is a monthly devotional magazine for Catholics. They self-describe their mission thus: "to encourage Christians to know the love of God in a practical and personal way. Following the daily Mass readings, it is our hope that the Spirit will 'enlighten the eyes of our hearts' (Ephesians 1:18) so that we may know Jesus more deeply through prayer, Scripture, and the teachings of the Church."

Along with select featured articles from each month’s magazine, the site includes resources such as Bible study lessons, timeless stories about Catholic saints and other Christian heroes, guidance on marriage and family, and much more.

Catholic Exchange

REVIEW: Catholic Exchange is a non-profit charity endeavoring “to evangelize the world via the Internet with the Good News of Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church . . . in response to the need for greater catechesis and revival of the lay faithful in a time when materialism and relativism are marginalizing Biblical principles as the basis on which people make moral choices.” This is a very well designed site that is easy and fun to use. The columnists are some of the Church’s most well respected authors. The wide variety of resources makes this site well worth a visit.

Catholic Information Network (CIN)
REVIEW:
The purpose of this site is Catholic evangelization, accomplished through providing Catholic information in the forms of news briefs, papal addresses and encyclicals, Church documents, and various links. Updated regularly to provide current news and documents, this is an excellent source for information on Catholicism. Unfortunately, the overall design and organization leave something to be desired, but there is a general search engine to help users find what they are looking for.

REVIEW:
CatholiCity is a Catholic start page. It focuses on delivering free Catholic materials to your door and providing daily Catholic content to your screen. The main resources featured are Catholic news and commentary, chat and discussion groups, and a large database of links, each with a short description. They claim that all their links are carefully screened for faithfulness to Catholic teaching, and on the whole, this is the case. However, we did find a few questionable links in their database and so advise that users employ a discerning eye.

REVIEW:
Catholic Links is a portal for Catholic sites on the web. The site is offered in English and Spanish and features links under the following topics: Catholic Doctrine, Liturgy and Sacraments, Mary our Mother, Devotions, Human Dignity, Apostolates, Religious Groups, Secular Groups, Catholic Education, Spiritual Places, Ecclesiastical Organizations, Catholic Web, Communications, Art, Commercial Sites. Though there are many good resources linked through this site, it is a bit hard to navigate. The mixing of English and Spanish sites, as well as the fact that there is no search engine, makes finding specific information difficult.
