five members selected from nominees from the Parish, and one youth representative

The following are the current members of
the Council:

both by conducting fundraising activities and by coordinating and
monitoring the fundraising activities of other Parish committees and
organizations.

- Altar Servers -
Boys and girls in grade 4 or higher are invited to assist our Celebrants at our weekend and holyday liturgies. It is an important way for our young people to gain knowledge of and take part in our liturgies. If interested, please call our Altar Server Coordinator, Sharron Trimaldi at 670-0703 for more information and to schedule training.
- Bingo is played each
Friday evening (except Good Friday and any holiday) at 7:30 p.m. in
the Parish Center. The Center is a smoke-free room and air
conditioned. It has a large display board for numbers and uses a
computer verifier to check winning boards. We have also installed a
security system for your safety and that of our volunteers. This
important fund raising resource for the parish is made available
through the dedicated efforts of volunteers. In addition, the Ladies
Guild staffs a kitchen where refreshments and supplies are sold. If
you could spare a few hours once a month to help at Bingo, we would
be most grateful.
- Choir
-
St. Cecilia's Choir is a
dedicated group of men and women who provide music for our
Liturgical celebrations. They rehearse each Wednesday evening at
7:30 p.m. during the school year. The choir sings most Sundays
from September through June at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. They also
provide music for special feasts during the Liturgical year.
They practice and sing under the direction of our organist and
Music Director. Music is a beautiful and very important part of our liturgies. We welcome a variety of ages (young, old and in-between). Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings (and some Saturday afternoons for our youth). You do not need to be able to read music and a commitment doesn't require perfect attendance. For additional information, please call our Music Director, Jack Fiannaca, at 723-1459.
- Our
Youth Choir invites children from age 8 -
14 to participate in a seasonal choir during special
celebrations. Watch the bulletin for announcements.
- "Circle of Friends"
The
monthly support group for those who have lost a loved one through
death, or whose lives have changed in a way that is causing them to
experience a sense of grief where they join for prayer, sharing and
support.
- Communications Committee
is committed to deepen lifelong Faith Formation and
Spiritual Transformation, to strengthen the commitment to Christian
Stewardship for all Catholics, to follow Christ's witness for
Outreach and Justice, to develop and nurture lay ministry that uses
the gifts of all for the service of all, and to build up
reconciliation and unity within the Irondequoit faith communities by means of the communication media and the Internet. Please call John-Paul Vidal, Communications Director, for more information at 585-224-8931.
- Extraordinary
Ministers of the Eucharist - Extraordinary Ministers (those ministers who are not Priests or Deacons) share their faith by bringing the Body and Blood of Christ to others. They are true servants of Christ. It is important for them to have a strong faith and a welcoming, kind awareness and inclusiveness of others. They make all those who come forward feel welcome.
- Flower Committee - They are a network of men and women of our parish who desire to keep the space of our Christian worship a place of “solemnity” during Lent, “new life” at Easter, “anticipation” during Advent, “joy” at Christmas and a sense of “peace and beauty” during Ordinary Time.
- Funeral Ministry - Commentators, Greeters and Altar Servers make up our support team to assist our Celebrants at our Funeral Liturgies. Commentators introduce readers and hymns, and at times, proclaim our readings. Greeters welcome our families and provide hospitality. Altar Servers (men, women, young and elderly) provide assistance by serving at our funerals. We rotate our team and provide flexibility when needed. This is a wonderful way to serve our fellow parishioners at a very important time in their lives.
- Garden Club - Not a day goes by that someone does not comment on how lovely our gardens are looking this year. We are truly blessed with “fruitful” volunteers who give their time, talent and treasure to the beauty of our grounds.
- "Giving Tree",
our annual Advent/Christmas program, is St. Cecilia’s outreach to
families in need. Each year, our parishioners “adopt” members of
families whose names are given to us from the House of Mercy and
Catholic Charities (and our own parish). We provide them with food,
gifts and donations of gift certificates. We also ask for donations
for plants to brighten the season for our own homebound
parishioners. The children of our parish contribute through their
collection of toiletries, which are added to our baskets.
- God's Housekeepers
- Required: Women or Men with spirit who love the Lord enough to clean His home! They presently work every Monday morning (other times may be possible in the future) after the 9 a.m. Mass, for about an hour.
- Homebound Ministry - We invite you to join us in bringing Communion and Hospitality to our homebound parishioners. Some visit directly after Mass; others connect with those in need and make a schedule suitable to both parties. We have a great continuous need for more ministers. Please consider joining us in this very important ministry.
- Ladies' Guild meets on the second Thursday of the month. All women of the
Parish are invited to join. Activities include delicious dinners, guest
speakers, social opportunities and a fundraising project for the good
of the Parish.
- Lector -
The Lectors roll is of utmost importance. They proclaim the Word of Our Lord through the readings; for it is by this Word that God makes Himself present to us. The Lector also welcomes the congregation and introduces the hymns and participants.
- Men's Club meets on the second
Monday of the month September through May. In May a Gala Dinner Dance
is held every year. All the men of the Parish are invited to join.
The meetings feature delicious dinners, speakers, Euchre tournaments
and a Communion supper. They also sponsor a retreat that is held in
the Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua.
- Minister of Hospitality
- Ushers and Greeters take part by greeting those who enter Church, assist in providing seating, taking up the collection, recruiting Gift Bearers and providing an overall welcoming attitude on behalf of our parish community! They are often the first people our visitors encounter when entering our Church, therefore, they play a major role in conveying the mood of our parish.

- Young at Heart
is a social organization for men and women over 50 years of age.

with a brown bag lunch or an occasional special luncheon
celebration. Activities include games, crafts, bingo, picnics and
day trips, or just chatting and having a cup of coffee for a couple
of hours once a month. Dues are $15 per year. Also dues cover
donations for Masses or to the Memorial Fund for a Deceased member
or for a close relative of a member.
